However, Kobe's shooting resulted in a Game 6 loss and a 15-point deficit at halftime ...

Kings series in 2002 was much worse. Honestly Portland just choked. They came back down 3-1 and were up 15 points in the 4th quarter of game 7. 15 points! They were missing jumpshots and giving up 3s. The refs couldn't make that happen.

I'll be honest, as a kid I remember these plays being a lot more egregious than I'm seeing here. In hindsight, Kobe on Sabonis was an easy no-call. Smitty initiated the contact with Shaq, who actually did a great job staying vertical. He had every right to occupy that air space. Not his fault Smitty chose to launch into a human wall. The Wallace ejection sucked, but Rasheed has only himself to blame after the ref warned him. What a man-child he was back then. I'll agree that Sabonis' 5th foul in Game 7 was awful, but for god's sake the Blazers could have hit some shots in the 4th. Isn't that what basketball is all about? I'm done with conspiracy theories. They're just not fun anymore. We need to collectively grow up. If we don't have facts and corroborating evidence and due process, then there really isn't anything to talk about. Might as well just yell at the clouds.

Nothing is worse than what happened the Kings two years later the Kings were on their way to defeating the lakers than, the refs took it away from then with that non call! Kobe elbowed Mike Bibby in the face right in front of the refs with seconds left in the game, the Kings were up 3-2 in the series at the time. That should have been a flagrant 1 foul the ball turned over to the Kings and two foul shots, instead Kobe went to line the lakers eventually won the game and the series.
